Patriotic Playlist for the 4th of July

Jun 30 2014, 09:00 AM by

All Work & No Playlist? The 4th of July is almost upon us. I’m looking forward to the long weekend, some BBQ and of course fireworks. Patriotism is something the whole country can agree on and come together with. Just look at the World Cup going on right now. On many issues in business, there will always be parties at opposite ends of an idea. Just remember, there’s always common ground somewhere. Our playlist this week is 4th of July themed. Let it remind you that we all have something in common.

Playlist: Takin' it Back to 2003

Jun 16 2014, 06:00 AM by

As I wrote about in last week’s “All Work & No Playlist” post, we spent the week in New York and attended the New York Small Business Expo. It was a great success and we want to that everybody who stopped by our booth and chatted with us. We had a blast! I spent the rest of the weekend with one of my best friends from high school. He’s lived in New York for six years and I had never visited him there. We’d see one another in Chicago for holidays or at friends’ weddings. It was fun to see what his life in New York was like. It was also funny to see how spending time together would throw us back into old rhythms. It’s good to feel connected to your past. I always admire how far I myself and Benchmark as a company has come since I started here. We’ve done amazing things and changed and grown so much. However, it’s also good to remember the ideals we’re built on and where we came from. In honor of that, here’s a playlist from 2003 ... the year I graduated from high school. Let it take you back and remind you of your roots.

Playlist: New York State of Mind

Jun 09 2014, 09:00 AM by

The New York Small Business Expo is this week. Daniel Miller and I will be manning the Benchmark booth once again and we couldn’t be more excited. Last year was Daniel’s first time in the Big Apple. New York was especially kind to us. Several event attendees even asked me to sign their Ask Andy mouse pads. I was certain my head would have to go as oversized luggage. It’s going to be hard to get any work done this week. My brain is already in a New York state of mind. Speaking of which, here’s our New York themed playlist. Enjoy it and be sure to come say hi if you’re in town at the New York Small Business Expo.

Playlist: Songs of the Summer 2014

Jun 02 2014, 03:00 AM by

It’s not officially summer yet. That’s a couple weeks away. However, it sure feels like summer out there. Plus, it’s June. June is summer. Sorry, solstices. In SoCal, it’s pretty much always summer. The weather isn’t really an indicator of things for us here. However, music is. The Song of the Summer has long been a favorite thing of mine. That one jam that everyone universally agrees on and gets played into the ground. That happens so rarely in music ... and also in business. There’s so seldom the one tactic or practice that works for everyone. Once in a while, something comes up and everyone accepts it. Thrives doing it. They do it ad nauseam. Then it stops working. Whether it be practices in SEO, social media or anything else, we’ve all seen it. In honor of that, here’s our list of the Songs of the Summer of 2014.

Playlist: Small Business Expo in Big D

May 12 2014, 03:00 AM by

This week Benchmark is heading to Texas for the Dallas Small Business Expo. We’re excited and not just to eat some BBQ. No, we know everything is bigger in Texas and we’re coming to make sure that’s true of your success as well. Come chat email marketing and event management with us and we’ll be sure to help you get some Texas sized ROI. Since we’ve got nothing but Dallas on the mind, I figured I’d dedicate this week’s playlist to it. So, here’s some very famous artists that call Dallas home. I hope my fellow Hoosier alum Mark Cuban will approve!
