When it comes to marketing, nothing beats good old-fashioned get-in-you-hands, print. At least, nothing beats print when two things are happening. The first is that your audience is having their attention increasingly fought for in repeat attempts across multiple platforms. The second is that an older demographic still responds favorably to print; a younger demographic responds well to visually stimulating content, especially in print.

Despite how much has changed in the last 20 years on how we communicate and gather information, there’s one thing that still stands strong and that’s email. Today, we’re sending over 100 BILLION emails
per day. It’s still considered the “go-to” form of business communication. And oddly enough, while we were for the most part all trained to use a keyboard in typing classes, no one really has stopped to consider whether we should be trained to use other technology-driven platforms like email and social media. Now if you consider that email is the dominant means of communication in business, shouldn’t it warrant some set standard of practice?

You’ve created a wonderful and detailed email and fire it off to your anxiously awaiting iOS subscribers when you find that the whole message does not display, but it’s cut short ending with a button that states “Download Entire Message.” Only if the customer actually takes that step will the entire email be displayed, and if you placed your Call To Action at the very end of your email you can pretty well bet your bottom dollar that this particular send is going to tank your metrics. Gmail is now chopping your iOS emails at a mere 20 KB and what can you do about it? Nothing.
