Celebrate with Chinese New Year Templates

China can proudly boast one of the oldest continuous civilizations in the world. For business and international purposes they use the International or Gregorian calendar, but the Chinese calendar predates both for thousands of years. The celebration of the new year in February is the most glorious and observed holiday in Chinese society. The traditional Chinese numbering system runs in 60-year cycles but, depending where you choose to begin counting, 2011 in the Gregorian calendar will be either the year 4709 or 4648 in the Chinese calendar.

The New Year begins on the first day of the month and ends on February 15th with Lantern Festival. Families feast at annual reunion dinners and clean their houses to sweep away bad luck and welcome better fortune. Firecrackers and red paper-cuts are a staple of the holiday: a bold crimson theme for an enduring civilization.
