Yes, Benchmark Email provides a way to use PDF files in the campaigns you are creating. The PDF file will need to be added to your document library before it can be included in your campaign.
Note: Avoid using an entire PDF as an email since it will create the same issues as a
single image email.
Upload a PDF to the Document Library:
First, make sure you are in Step 4 of the email builder.
Then follow these steps:
- Click the Edit icon
located in the upper left hand corner of the section you want the PDF to be stored in.
- Select Document
from the Insert Additional Elements toolbox located on the left side of your screen.
- Click Upload File.
- Locate the file and click Open.
Once the file has finished uploading, the window will disappear and a link for the uploaded file will be displayed in the block. Ideally you would want to display a more meaningful 'text to display' there. So delete that link, and follow the process below.
Inserting a link to a PDF while editing an email:
- Click the Edit icon located in the upper left hand corner of the section you want the PDF to be stored in.
- The PDF will need to be linked to text. Using a call to action word or phrase works well in getting your subscribers to open the link. Once you have decided on your word or phrase, highlight it.
- Select Document from the Insert Additional Elements toolbox located on the left side of your screen.
- Any files that have previously been uploaded will appear in the pop-up window. See the image below for an example. Find the document you would like to add and click on its name.
The window will disappear and you will see the previously selected text as a hyperlink.
Here is an example of what it will look like:
Subscribers will now be able to click on this link to view and/or save the PDF file.
As a reminder, any document you upload into the library will remain available for use in future campaigns until you decide to delete it.
Note: Benchmark Email only allows you to link to a document within an email.
