How do I clear my web browser‘s cache?

Today there are several web browsers that allow you to interact with the internet. Each has its own controls and quirks, and web pages will even appear differently depending on which one you are using. Each browser however has a cache that contains the images, data, scripts, history, etc. of the website you are visiting.

Emptying a browser's cache can free up space on your computer and can even give you a slight boost in surf speed (depending on how much data is inside the cache).

Below are instructions for emptying the various caches of the most popular web browsers:
Chrome 50.0
  1. Open your Chrome browser
  2. Click the menu in the top right hand corner
  3. Hover over More tools, then select Clear browsing data
  4. Select a period of time of when you want to delete browsing data
  5. Then select what data you wish to delete
  6. Lastly, click Clear Browsing Data when done
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7
  1. In the browser, click Tools and select Internet Options.
  2. In the General tab, under the Browsing History section, click Delete.
  3. Click Delete Files.
  4. Click Yes when the message asks if you want to delete all temporary internet files. Then click OK.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 8
  1. Click on the Tools menu.
  2. Select Delete Browsing History.
  3. Check Temporary Internet Files then click Delete.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 9, 10, 11
  1. Open Internet Explorer browser
  2. Click tools Hover above Safety
  3. Then Click Delete browsing history
  4. Select all that you want to save
  5. Click Delete when done
Mozilla Firefox 3.5
  1. Click on Tools.
  2. Choose Clear Recent History.
  3. When it asks the time and range to clear, select Everything from the dropdown menu.
  4. Expand the Details section by clicking the arrow and check only the Cache (uncheck anything else you do not wish to delete).
  5. Select Clear Now.
Mozilla Firefox 4
  1. Click on Tools.
  2. Choose Clear Recent History.
  3. When it asks the time and range to clear, select Everything from the dropdown menu.
  4. Check cache (uncheck anything else you do not wish to delete).
  5. Select Clear Now.

  1. Click Safari at the top of your main screen
  2. Click Preferences from the menu
  3. Navigate to the privacy tab
  4. Click Details under Cookies and other website data
  5. Select which cookies you wish to remove
  6. Click Remove
Safari 7.0 - For MAC
  1. Click on SafariSafari at top
  2. Select Preferences from the menu
  3. Click Advanced tab
  4. Then enable Show Develop menu in menu bar
  5. Afterwards go to the Develop menu at the top
  6. Then click Empty Caches
