Why Does Benchmark Email Use Sender ID Authentication and What Is It?

Microsoft's Sender ID (SIDF) technology allows an ISP to verify that an email message was actually sent by who claims to send it. The address of the server that sent the email is authenticated against a registered list of servers that the domain owner has authorized to send email. Over 10 million domains worldwide use SIDF technology.

SIDF was developed to fight spoofing and phishing scams in which fraudulent emails are sent that look as if they come from reputable companies or individuals. A typical example would be a fraudulent message coming from a bank that asks a reader for sensitive financial or identity information.

Benchmark Email authenticates outgoing email using Sender ID technology because it fights spam/fraud while ensuring higher deliverability of legitimate emails. You can find out more by reading our article on email authentication.
