Essa ideia surgiu em uma de nossas reuni\u00f5es de lideran\u00e7a. Outros membros de nosso time de l\u00edderes estavam compartilhando sobre como eles t\u00eam aprendido coisas que tem os ajudado a melhor cumprir suas fun\u00e7\u00f5es ao ler blogs de outras empresas e como ele t\u00eam superado seus desafios. N\u00f3s podemos nos aperfei\u00e7oar ao entender novos conceitos e ao utilizar ferramentas que talvez nunca tenhamos ouvido falar a n\u00e3o ser que em um destes blogs. Espero que o leitor de meus posts possa obter algumas ideias que o ajude no sucesso de seus neg\u00f3cios, especialmente se um de seus objetivos for o de crescer internacionalmente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Como que a Benchmark come\u00e7ou? Em 2003-2004 eu tinha acabado de sair do setor de servi\u00e7os financeiros e estava a procura de um novo desafio. Nos \u00faltimos 10 anos antes da Benchmark, eu havia come\u00e7ado algumas empresas diferentes que em sua maioria eram focadas na editora\u00e7\u00e3o eletr\u00f4nica e impressa. Eu tive um sucesso moderado nestes setores, mas estava rapidamente perdendo o interesse e desejando abra\u00e7ar as novas oportunidades online e tecnol\u00f3gicas que estavam sendo desenvolvidas naquele tempo. Ap\u00f3s alguns meses de an\u00e1lises, sonhos e inquieta\u00e7\u00e3o, decidi pelo espa\u00e7o do email marketing e registrei o nome benchmarkemail.com. Eu gostei do nome Benchmark, por motivos \u00f3bvios. E sonhava com o sucesso do produto, de um dia se tornar o produto padr\u00e3o de seu setor. A rocha, ou o benchmark, pelo qual nossos clientes iriam avaliar o email marketing. Al\u00e9m de que sou muito competitivo, ent\u00e3o o nome tamb\u00e9m foi o encaixe perfeito para a minha psique\u2026 e, portanto, decidi pela benchmarkemail.com.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Agora veio o desafio de construir este servi\u00e7o (naquela \u00e9poca nem o chamava de servi\u00e7o\u2026 o v\u00edamos mais como um website que possuia recursos e ferramentas bacanas) de email marketing. Aonde que eu contrataria designers ou programadores? De onde viria o dinheiro? Devo envolver minha fam\u00edlia e amigos ou ent\u00e3o encontrar um anjo investidor, talvez? Decidi alavancar toda a opera\u00e7\u00e3o sozinho. Optei n\u00e3o ir atr\u00e1s de um investidor, j\u00e1 que queria crescer no meu pr\u00f3prio ritmo e n\u00e3o ser pressionado. Ambos minha esposa, Denise, e eu n\u00e3o quer\u00edamos ter que explicar \u00e0 nossa fam\u00edlia ou amigos o porqu\u00ea das coisas n\u00e3o ir bem. O fracasso significaria perder apenas o nosso tempo e dinheiro!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Minha primeira tarefa foi procurar pelo meu time no exterior, j\u00e1 que sabia do alto custo nos EUA. Decidi pela \u00cdndia como o lugar certo para encontrar o talento que precisava. Haviam alguns motivos para essa decis\u00e3o. Um deles era o n\u00edvel da alta tecnologia que desenvolvedores alcan\u00e7aram neste pa\u00eds e outro tinha mais a ver com os fatores de confian\u00e7a e integridade da cultura Hindu. Que melhor maneira de ver o qu\u00e3o longe chegamos como uma empresa, do que ver qu\u00e3o novo meu filho est\u00e1 nesta foto?!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Naquela \u00e9poca eu estava ajudando minha esposa com uma pequena empresa de impress\u00e3o e t\u00ednhamos alguns produtos de editora\u00e7\u00e3o eletr\u00f4nica que est\u00e1vamos vendendo online. Isso nos permitiu ter uma renda, enquanto d\u00e1vamos \u00e0 Benchmark a oportunidade de crescer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Est\u00e1vamos situados em um pequeno pr\u00e9dio m\u00e9dico (nosso primeiro escrit\u00f3rio era uma sala, dentro de um escrit\u00f3rio, talvez 38m<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) pr\u00f3ximo aos dentistas, optometristas e pod\u00f3logos, mas o aluguel era barato e nos permitiu gastar mais dinheiro no produto. No primeiro ano de opera\u00e7\u00e3o, t\u00ednhamos uma pessoa trabalhando no Suporte na \u00cdndia (Delhi), quatro desenvolvedores (Mumbai) e eu pr\u00f3prio. Eu esbo\u00e7ava o design e listava algumas l\u00f3gicas em um papel, escaneava e enviava para nosso time em Mumbai. Pronto! Muito barb\u00e1rio comparado aos padr\u00f5es de hoje, mas muito eficaz para a \u00e9poca. Minhas horas de trabalho eram bastante compridas. O dia inteiro no escrit\u00f3rio, e normalmente um m\u00ednimo de 3-5 noites de 2 a 3 horas no hor\u00e1rio diurno, local, da \u00cdndia. Na \u00e9poca eu era um pouco mais novo \ud83d\ude42 e amava o desafio dessa nova ideia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Como pode ver, a Benchmark nasceu como uma empresa internacional.
