I don\u2019t know why this day was chosen. Perhaps it was on that day hundreds of years ago that Frederick Garlic, with a mouthful of his wife\u2019s Italian cooking, tripped over his own two feet and fell face-first into a clove of garlic. Having discovered the missing ingredient to his wife\u2019s bland cooking, Frederick dedicated his life to spreading the word on the wondrous food we now know as garlic. Thanks to his discovery and his efforts to share garlic with the world, we honor him on April 19.<\/p>\n<p>This probably isn\u2019t how garlic was discovered, nor why we celebrate Garlic Day on April 19. It still happens though. If you think about it, Garlic Day is the perfect day for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benchmarkemail.com\/\">email marketing<\/a>. Who wants to speak face-to-face with a person who has been chowing on garlic all day? Customize a Benchmark email template and celebrate Garlic Day with your subscribers.<br \/>\nGarlic Chip Cookie Recipe (courtesy of <i>iChef.com<\/i>):<br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>10 Cloves fresh garlic<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup Maple syrup<\/li>\n<li>1 cup Butter, softened<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup Brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup Sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 Eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon Vanilla<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon Salt<\/li>\n<li>2 1\/4 cup Chocolate chips<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup Chopped nuts<\/li>\n<li>2 1\/2 cup Flour<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon Baking soda<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Instructions:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Drop garlic cloves into boiling water for about 5 minutes until tender. Peel and chop garlic and soak in Maple syrup for 20 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, cream butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla together until light and fluffy. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add to cream mixture. Then stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drain garlic and add to cookie batter. Blend well. Drop cookie batter by tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned.
