If you\u2019re sending someone a single coupon or offer, put the info up front so that you can stop them at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benchmarkemail.com\/resources\/manualinfo\/subject-lines\">subject line<\/a> if they don\u2019t want any of it. Let them move on if they\u2019re uninterested.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s the end of my message. If you want to know more, come on in\u2026<\/p>\n<h4>There\u2019s a Time for Clever. This Ain\u2019t It.<\/h4>\n<p>Ah, you creative genius, you. Your prose is pro and your words are gold. Can you just give it a rest for today, word-master? Save it for a scrabble game.<\/p>\n<p>People are very busy these days. They\u2019ve already honored your indulgence by signing up for your on-some-days-annoying list, why waste their time beating around the bush if you\u2019re only sending a single offer or coupon?<\/p>\n<p>If you want to be clever with your subject line, write an amazing and informative, content-driven newsletter. People like those a few times a month, but not as often as you\u2019d like to market to them. Yet people always want those discount offers for some reason.<\/p>\n<h4>The Top Three Types of Subject Lines<\/h4>\n<p>Do you know the top three types of subject lines that compel people to open? Here they are:<br \/>\n<i><\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i>Discount Offer<\/i><\/li>\n<li><i>Free Product Offer<\/i><\/li>\n<li><i>Familiar Brand Name<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That\u2019s what Marketing Sherpa, by way of EmailStatsCenter.com says, so I have faith in that. In this case, two out of three is great. You win by writing a subject line like \u201cSave 50% on Tide with This Coupon.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>Indirect Is Immoral \u2026or at Least Very Annoying<\/h4>\n<p>Do you think anyone wants to read, \u201cDon\u2019t miss this very special email offer,\u201d only to open up a pesky 10%-off-a-thing-I-don\u2019t-want coupon? No. It might even be a great offer, like a half-price thing-a-ma-whatever, but it\u2019s no bargain if they don\u2019t want it.<\/p>\n<h4>Groupon Gets It, so I Get Groupon<\/h4>\n<p>People might say they love Groupon, but I think they really just tolerate them until they find an offer they love. Though they send everyday (something you DON\u2019T want to do unless you\u2019re Groupon), someone can tell instantly if the email is worth opening by their subject line. See an offer you like? Click it. No? Move on and \u201cthank you for being up front with me about today\u2019s Santa Ana helicopter tour coupon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.benchmarkemail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/groupon-inbox.jpg\" width=\"501\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Trust Your Offer to Open Doors or Don\u2019t Send It<\/h4>\n<p>Remember, your email offer won\u2019t appeal to everybody on your list.
