Absolutely every business needs a YouTube channel with its own video hosted there. A video about your business, with your company face, is critical if you want to inspire interest and trust.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m inspired to write this blog because I just spent the better half of four months begging a fabulous luxury interior designer client of mine to seriously consider video blogging \u2013 even if she just created a 30 second video. The designer has such an amazing video presence, is so well spoken and is so personable that no matter how great her site is, she\u2019s completely missing the opportunity to connect with prospective clients via video. She\u2019s not the only one. A few ongoing clients who keep coming to me with the usual question about this or that also have the same problem. They\u2019re passionate about what they do. They have amazing products\/services \u2013 but their website and marketing material simply cannot convey that passion. Video can.<\/p>\n

They refuse to do a video simply because they don\u2019t know how. If you\u2019re a business owner that\u2019s holding back for the same simple reason, then this post is for you. Grab a camera (or just sit in front of your webcam) and follow these tips. Make it your priority project for the month.<\/p>\n

Scripting:<\/b> While some people can wing the dialogue, most of us need some rough outline of what we\u2019re going to say. Never over think it or strictly follow a word-by-word script. This only ends up coming across forced and contrived. Natural flow and dialogue is always best. People want to see and connect with an authentic you.<\/p>\n

Scene Setting:<\/b> Web-cam videos are pretty popular but they\u2019re the absolute bare minimum standard that you can possibly meet. Try to be creative and shoot in a different scene. Start with a stationary pose, and as you start talking, slowly start walking. Vary your shots with wide, medium and close up angles. And always, always be aware of your light. The better the light, the better the quality of the video \u2013 no matter how poor the location.<\/p>\n

Editing:<\/b> If you don\u2019t want to pay for expensive editing work, you can always hire a college student who\u2019ll do it as an intern or for a minimal stipend. Every video needs to be edited. If you\u2019ve got a Mac, you\u2019re set; Apples come with great built-in editing software. If you\u2019re not blessed with a Mac and cannot get one, you can use the editing functions offered by JumpCut, Eyespot, Cuts, MixerCast and Veotags.<\/p>\n
