A recent Hubspot\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hubspot.com\/lead-generation-tips\">survey\u00a0<\/a>has revealed that marketers with blogs generate 67% more leads and that the more content you publish, the more traffic and leads you will get. While this is valuable data, it\u2019s important to realize that there\u2019s a right and wrong way to marketing with content.<\/p>\n<p>Publishing a lot of filler articles for the purpose of blogging multiple times a day so as to get more people to check out what you have to offer won\u2019t have much of an impact. Here are a few ways to effectively use the written content to get more marketing results:<\/p><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"subtopic\">On Your Blog<\/h3>\n<div><b>Have a fixed schedule.<\/b>\u00a0This is especially important if you\u2019re a business; while it\u2019s okay to want to write whenever you have something to say, you won\u2019t get any real results until you have a consistent schedule. If you want to blog twice a week, blog twice a week; don\u2019t suddenly publish a post a day for 2 weeks and then abandon your blog for the next 2 weeks.<\/p>\n<p><b>Don\u2019t just go for regular blog posts.<\/b>\u00a0Everybody is doing the &#8220;regular&#8221; 500 word blog posts so it doesn\u2019t really help you stand out if that\u2019s all you do; experiment with various content forms that will deliver better results. For example, instead of just writing blog posts with tips and &#8220;how to&#8221; \u2013 like everyone else is doing \u2013 you can experiment with the following forms of content:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Resource posts<\/li>\n<li>Case studies<\/li>\n<li>Ultimate guides<\/li>\n<li>Expert interviews<\/li>\n<li>Success stories<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The above are 5 different forms of content you can write and they\u2019re much more powerful than the &#8220;me too&#8221; blog posts; in my own experience, every single resource post I\u2019ve written has outperformed how to and &#8220;tips&#8221; article by at least 300%; traffic to these articles keep increasing every month and so does the leads that come with them.<\/p>\n<p>Popular blogger, Neil Patel, also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.quicksprout.com\/2013\/02\/07\/how-i-grew-quick-sprout-from-121311-to-244923-readers-in-30-days\/\">documents<\/a>\u00a0how publishing a massive resource post resulted in significantly more traffic to his blog than other articles he\u2019s written; this type of post will take more time since it\u2019ll usually be a combination of several posts, but it\u2019s much more powerful and practical.<\/p>\n<p>Also, my experience with writing posts that are &#8220;ultimate guides&#8221; has revealed that not only do these kinds of blog posts get more shares and traffic, but they result in more leads; these kinds of posts are usually several thousands of words long and contain visuals.<\/p>\n<p>You can also experiment with interviewing experts that use the same strategy your company advocates or that use the tools\/products you offer, or you can interview real people getting results with your products; this validates your strategy and encourages more people to check out your offering. Depending on who is interviewed, this kind of post might not get a lot of views but it has great potential for generating leads.<\/p>\n<p>Success stories work in a similar way. They validate what you do and advocate and as a result make people more likely to check out your offering.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"subtopic\">Outside Your Blog<\/h3>\n<div>Unless you already have a massive following on your blog, then just updating your blog won\u2019t be very effective; it\u2019s important to also leverage the written content outside of your blog to get more traffic, subscribers and authoritative links. Here are a few effective ways to do that:<\/p>\n<p><b>Guest blog.<\/b>\u00a0You\u2019ve probably heard about it several times before, and it works. In most cases, especially when you\u2019re just getting started with your blog, you don\u2019t have the audience that can give your content a push and that\u2019ll help you achieve real impact. By guest blogging for relevant authoritative blogs, you get access to this audience and build yours over time.<\/p>\n<p><b>Repackage your content.<\/b>\u00a0Once you\u2019ve written your content; blog posts, eBooks etc. you can get more exposure by repackaging them into eBooks and slides and then distributing them to sites like a href=&#8221;<a class=\"vglnk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/<\/a>&#8220;&gt;Slideshare and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/\">Scribd<\/a>. These sites have the audience you can tap into by submitting your content exposure and they also support a format that allows you to brand yourself.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve published\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/OnibalusiBamidele\/how-to-use-blogging-to-fuel-your-freelance-writing-business-13476149\">a slide on Slideshare<\/a>\u00a0that got 15,000+ views \u2013 around half of that alone came from Slideshare itself \u2013 that I wouldn\u2019t have gotten if I didn\u2019t tap into the existing audience Slideshare had.<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"subtopic\">The Key to Getting Results from the Written Content<\/h3>\n<div>Ultimately, effective writing-based marketing is based on two things; writing your content and distributing it.
