Watching both Conference Championship football games this weekend, I was struck by how much the identity of the city was represented in the games. In Seattle, Ann Wilson, from Heart, sang the National Anthem and Paul Allen raised the 12th Man flag. Everyone made their jokes and puns on Twitter about a certain plant that is now legal in both states the Super Bowl teams are located. The mayors will undoubtedly place a bet with one another surrounding foods each city is famous for. By bringing in the culture of each city, it gives fans something extra to root for. You may be a national or online business, but are you doing anything to attach yourself to the local goings on? Here’s a playlist of bands that hail from Seattle and Denver (or the surrounding areas) to put on while you think about what you could do to harness the power of your local market.

  • “In Bloom” – Nirvana
  • “Such Great Heights” – The Postal Service
  • “Can’t Hold Us” – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis f. Ray Dalton
  • “Fighting For” – Kinetix
  • “Rise” – Flobots
  • “I Can See It In Your Face” – Pretty Lights
