I recently made a “That’s not a knife, THIS is a knife” reference to a friend and it went right over his head. I may have been keen on the Crocodile Dundee reference due to countless viewings with my dad when I was growing up. With Australia Day right around the corner, I think now is as good a time as any for America to catch up on/revisit that classic comedy.

Australia Day takes place on January 26 and is the official national day of Australia. The celebrations are marked with fireworks, BBQs and an Australian of the year is named. I’m sure that award causes great tension in the Nicole Kidman/Keith Urban household, as they’re both perennial candidates.

Last year, I suggested you do your own cover of “Land Down Under” for an Australia Day email campaign, to complement one of our great Australia Day email templates. I honestly can’t think of an idea that amuses me more. In fact, do this, and tweet me a link to your email campaign. It would make my (Australia) day to listen to a dozen covers of that song.

Author Bio:

by Andy Shore

Andy Shore found his way to Benchmark when he replied to a job listing promising a job of half blogging, half social media. His parents still don’t believe that people get paid to do that. Since then, he’s spun his addiction to pop culture and passion for music into business and marketing posts that are the spoonful of sugar that helps the lessons go down. As the result of his boss not knowing whether or not to take him seriously, he also created the web series Ask Andy, which stars a cartoon version of himself. Despite being a cartoon, he somehow manages to be taken seriously by many of his readers ... and few of his coworkers.
